# Overview of .BD Domain

The .BD domain is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Bangladesh, managed by the Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL). BTCL requires eligibility and document verification before a .BD domain can be activated. These are registry-level requirements.

## Eligibility

Applicants must demonstrate a valid Bangladesh presence. Eligible applicants include:

* Bangladeshi individuals with a valid National ID (NID)
* Bangladesh-registered companies or businesses
* Bangladesh-registered non-profit organisations or NGOs
* Recognised educational institutions

A valid Bangladeshi NID and a reachable Bangladeshi mobile number are required in all cases.

## Registrant Information

* The domain must be registered in the name of the actual eligible registrant.
* The details in your customer profile must be accurate and match the supporting documents.
* For company registrations, the details must match the company documentation.

## Required Documents

### Individual Registration

* Valid Bangladeshi NID or passport (as accepted by BTCL)
* Active and reachable Bangladeshi mobile number
* At least one complete part of the applicant's name on the NID must match the requested domain name.

### Company Registration

* Valid Trade License or Certificate of Incorporation
* Company owner's valid Bangladeshi NID
* Active and reachable Bangladeshi mobile number
* Official request letter on the company's letterhead

The request letter must clearly state the **purpose of the domain** and the **exact domain name** requested. If the domain represents a brand that differs from the company's legal name, the letter must explain the relationship between the brand and the company.

### Trademark Documentation (Optional, Recommended)

Where applicable, you may also provide a Bangladesh trademark registration certificate or trademark filing receipt to help establish the legitimacy of the domain name.

## Domain Name Requirements

* Domain names are registered on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to registry approval.
* The requested domain must match, or have a legitimate relationship with, the applicant's legal name, business name or trademark.
* Regular-priced domains must contain **at least three characters**. Two-character domains may be subject to premium pricing and registry classification.
* Reserved, government-related, misleading, offensive, unethical or illegal names may be restricted or rejected.

## Premium and Restricted Domains

We do not offer registration of .BD domains classified as **Premium** by BTCL. The registry determines domain classification, availability and pricing, so orders identified as Premium or Restricted may be declined or cancelled.

## Additional Verification

BTCL may request additional documents or verification depending on the domain name, registrant or circumstances of the application.

## How to Submit Your Documents

Please submit the applicable documents via a support ticket:

* Trade License (for company registrations)
* Valid Bangladeshi NID or other applicable identity document
* Active and reachable Bangladeshi mobile number

Once the documents are received and verified, we will proceed with activation, subject to BTCL's approval.
